Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)

Ear surgery, also known as Otoplasty, is performed in order to adjust the appearance or size of the ear.

It is commonly used to treat:

  • Overly large ears
  • Protruding ears
  • Appearance from a previous ear surgery
  • Defect in ear structure

Ear surgery can be performed on both adults and kids. However, it is advised to only opt for the surgery after the child is 5 - 6 years old.

During the treatment process, either local anesthesia and sedation or general anesthesia will be administered, depending on the age bracket of the patient.

An incision will be made behind the ear, in the groove between ear and side of the head. This will vary from case to case. The usual length of the surgery is between 1 – 2 hours.

After Surgery

Most patients are discharged after the surgery. However, you may be advised to stay overnight if needed.

You are required to wear a head bandage for 2 weeks. After this, results are apparent. Recovery will also take around 2 weeks and you are advised to avoid any contact sports for up to 2 months. (Every patient is a unique individual and every surgery has unique aspects. Therefore no two procedures or rejuvenation treatments will get the exact same results. Individual results vary from patient to patient.)

We at Aesthetics International specialize in ear surgery and have years of experience in the same. The surgery is carried out under the supervision of renowned surgeon, Dr. Jaffer Khan.
